There is a one-time initiation fee, due with application as follows:
(Associate members who wish to become Voting Members pay the remainder, $ 750 upon receipt of a winery license.)
Fees are collected annually for membership in WANS and the Canadian Vintners’ Association (CVA) as well as a Marketing Levy for participation in the Wines of Nova Scotia marketing program, as follows:
Wines of Nova Scotia Marketing Levy:
Wineries who wish to use the trademark, Wines of Nova Scotia and the related logo and be included in the Wines of Nova Scotia marketing programs may enter into a licensing agreement with WANS.
An annual marketing levy is paid by licensees and is based on both a fixed component and a variable component as follows:
The variable component, $.60 per case is collected by the NSLC and is based on the monthly report that wineries send to the NSLC to report their direct farm winery sales.
(Resolution WANS meeting January 30, 2007)
In order to maintain confidentiality, the variable per case marketing levy is collected by the NSLC and paid directly to WANS quarterly. All other fees are invoiced at the start of the fiscal year (January) unless otherwise noted.
